California is arguably one of the best places in the world. The state is full of great weather, great geography, not to mention that some of the smartest residents live here. We are global technology leaders and, thanks to this, we are changing the way people live every day. But are we currently walking on the right path, or have we lost our way?

I would say we lost our way.

Over the past decade, California has taken the wrong path – one leading to increased social control of the general population. The businesses that reside here are turning into “thought police,†telling people we love that their own opinions are wrong. While most developers see themselves as doing good, collectively they are ruining California.

On top of that, there appears to be a tendency for the California government to mismanage its taxes and its financial system as a whole. California’s gross domestic product is one of the highest in the country, but our taxes keep rising and our debt keeps rising. **

One thing I have learned throughout my three year journey with Bitcoin is that Bitcoin and Bitcoiners love transparency. The open source code that anyone in the world can verify and the private nodes that anyone can configure and verify all aspects of the network if they want to, too, are all part of Bitcoin’s philosophy.

Where should California be headed?

California should work on building an open source world, where people can check the code for bugs and exploits, making sure the infrastructure is secure and nothing has been done without a process. revision. It should be applied to all aspects of our local, state and national day government. It is only through transparency that you can restore the faith and confidence of the people.

As for the tech companies that reside here, they should strive to improve the freedoms and personal rights of their fellow human beings. Once you restrict personal freedoms, people will still fight or leave the state completely in a peaceful manner.

California may be on the path to destruction right now, but that doesn’t have to be the fate of the Golden State. The average person living here wants to live in a better world than the one they grew up in. Californians are actively trying to make a difference for the greater good. We all have very different opinions on how to achieve this change. But one thing is certain, the current trajectory will only lead to more social control and tax deception.

Replicating the open source transparency of Bitcoin is the way forward for California and for any state that wishes to prosper.
